How it affects your PC troubleshooting?  Taking care of your PC is not a tedious task.  What is important is that you know the tools and techniques.  I will discuss about ESD or Static Electricity here in my blog.  Go ahead and read about it to learn the skills needed in repairing personal computer.

As a user and you want to take of your personal computer. It is very important that you know this “ESD” term. ESD stands for Electrostatic Discharge. ESD by definition is the passing of static electrical charge. Most important to remember that it is bad to our desktop computer specially when you want to troubleshoot your electronics component. It occurs when two objects with different amounts of static electricity come in to contact with one another. In everyday life you experience it and sometimes it tickles you, for example you’re walking on a carpet in an air condition room and you decided to go out of the room when you touch the doorknob suddenly you will feel like a little electrocuted that is “static electricity” and it’s the main reason why
we unintentionally add more damage to our personal computer electronics component. It’s usually occurs in dry and cool environments.  To take care of our PC or laptop electronics component during troubleshooting is to learn the different ways to avoid ESD. To combat ESD first you should wear an Anti Static Wrist Strap.

It has a wrist strap for your wrist and the other end is a clip that is connected to the metal part of your CPU. What it does is it connects you and the PC and it keeps the static potential between you and the desktop computer equal.

Aside from Anti Static Wrist Strap you will need also an Anti Static Mat. Parts removed from personal computer are no longer touching the PC and by this time wrist strap is no longer maintaining the static charge equal. All you have to do is to stand on a mat connected to the wrist-rap to keep the charges equal.

Another one we need to prevent ESD is to use an anti static bag. The electronics module remove from your PC should be stored in an anti static bag. The bag sheds static electricity when we touch it and it protects the components inside.  What if you don’t have the tools? Don’t worry there’s a cheap and easy
solutions. The first thing you need to do is touch the box of power supply first. Touch it repeatedly as you work on the personal computer.  Why is that? Because it keeps you and the PC at the same static charge
level, finally ALWAYS unplug your personal computer before working on it.
