Computer Memory

Computer memory is the soul of your computer.

Basically, it is of three types -RAM or the random access memory , ROM or the read only memory, and the hard drive memory. RAM computer memory is used by the computer processor for processing the information. It is a temporary memory, and the moment computer is shut down, every piece of data in the RAM is lost. It is at this point of time that computer flash memory
comes into the picture. RAM is further classified into different types such as extended data out (EDO); fast page mode (FPM); single data rate (SDR); Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM); double data rate -first generation (DDR1); and the double data rate -second generation (DDR2) respectively.

ROM is the memory that is stored on the computer's motherboard. The memory has all the data which is required by the computer for starting it smoothly. Since it is a read only memory, ROM can only be used for reading purposes and not for writing. Hard drive memory on the computer is the memory located on the physical drive and which can be used for storing huge amounts of data at any given point of time. The data can be easily recovered from this computer memory after the computer is switched on. Hard drive memory is a computer memory that can be used for longer duration of time.

Whether it is Dell or Apple memory or for that matter memory of any other assembled computer system, the central role of the memory remains the same, which is to store high quantity of data and make it available for use for information purposes. With increase in the resources, the requirement for computer memory upgrade becomes a necessary aspect. Upgrading the memory of computer system is very easy and not a cumbersome task and it takes only few minutes of your time. When you go for upgrade of computer memory, there's substantial increase in the performance of your computer system as it now takes much less processing time.

Computer memory upgrade for Apple requires different procedures altogether than the procedures that are otherwise required by the PC. There can be many reasons for the shift in procedures when considering memory upgrade and apple memory. The primary reasons that are otherwise responsible are differences in the configuration of RAM, Motherboards, and Graphics Cards etc. Therefore, the computer memory specifications, in case you are thinking of memory upgrade, are directly related to the hardware compatibility of the resources.

If you are not aware about the configuration of your PC, then it might not be possible for you to easily do the task of upgrade. In such a situation it'd be a good idea that you go for hardware professional that will give you the service and change the computer memory of your system for good performance and fast response time. It is important to note here that computer memory, irrespective of the fact, whether it is RAM, ROM or Hard disk, is meant to give efficiency, only if it is compatible with other hardware resources.

If memory is not compatible then there are possibilities of hardware and software conflicts occurring; and this will completely deteriorate the performance of the computer system sooner or later. Make sure that you keep the point in your mind.

Tektronix Computer Memory Free Interrelated Fact

Are you searching for information related to Tektronix Computer Memory or other information somehow related to memory for laptops, or pc100 512mb? If yes, this article will give you helpful insights related to Tektronix Computer Memory and even somehow related to random access memory and price computer memory that you might not have been aware of.

The first kind of computer memory is static computer memory. This is the amount of space you have to store things on your computer. When you save photos, video, music, documents and anything else on your computer, those files take up portions of your static computer memory.

You can upgrade your computer memory by purchasing additional memory and then having it installed into your computer tower. You will need to know who manufactured your computer, the precise product line and the model so that you get the correct memory for your computer. There are system scanners available online that can advise you about what kind of model computer you have, who manufactured it and the product line so that you can order the correct memory from a dealer online. Moreover, such as scanners can advise of the memory configuration of your computer so that you can easily purchase the correct amount of memory you need.

Memory comes in two different forms, these are RAM and ROM, RAM stands for Random Access Memory and ROM stands for Read Only Memory, both of these serve different purposes and vary in price.

Many people forget that they can get more information about any subject matter, be it Tektronix Computer Memory information or any other on any of the major search engines like Google. If you need more information about Tektronix Computer Memory, head on to Google and be more informed.

There are two methods of fixing a slow computer: upgrade the memory and fix the registry. I would personally fix the registry first, and the memory second. Why? because even if you fix the memory, and still have registry issues, you will not speed up the computer. The registry cleaner will speed up your computer immediately, and fix a slow running computer.

Computer ram comes in mainly different sizes and brands, some brand names within the industry are Kingston and Corsair, there are also many different types of RAM including SDRAM, DDR and RAM BUS DRAM, each of these serves different purposes, DDR Memory stands for Double Data Rate, this means it transfers data at double speed of SDRAM.

Card: With a computer having connectors with card slots and replaceable computer cards, Mounted card slots a retainer device for securing computer cards. An anchor mounted on the connectors and a tie wrapped around a computer card mounting, the tie having the connector ends engaged with the clip to secure the card in the slot. The clip having pronged and the prongs being hooked with the sides of a connector and the anchor having at least one pair of anchor hooks, each of the hooks being located on opposite sides of the connector's and engaged with one of the connectors ends of the tie.

Many people that searched for Tektronix Computer Memory also searched online for memory motherboard, micro-SD 1g, and even computer memory card.

Beware Internet Explorer Plug-ins

Just what is Intelligent Explorer? For your safety, you really need to know

I recently hit, by mistake, what I thought was an Explorer upgrade option.  It turned out to be a pop-up appearing legitimate but really was not. It uploaded a product called Intelligent Explorer on my machine.  What a nightmare!

I did some research on the web and found messages like this one from a BullGuard Antivirus Forum,

"PLEASE HELP!!!  I HAVE A SPYWARE, TROJAN AND HIJACKER ON MY COMPUTER.  I HAVE RUN BULLGUARD, CWSHREDDER AND AD-AWARE.  ALL HAVE PICKED UP THE VIRUSES AND SAID THAT THEY HAVE BEEN MOVED/REMOVED BUT WHEN I LOG ONTO THE INTERNET THAT DAMN INTELLIGENT EXPLORER TOOLBAR IS SHOWING"

Another message from spywareinfo Forum goes something like this:

"Hey I'm having issues with something called Internet explorer toolbar - Intelligent explorer. I can’t find a way to remove it from my comp and I really don’t want to reinstall windows. I've used spybot, ad-ware, and cw shredder but nothing seems to work."

It appears that Intelligent Explorer allows other software to be downloaded to your machine and this is where the problem occurs. What is even more remarkable is that by downloading Intelligent Explorer, their license grants them the right to install software add-ins on your computer at their will.  Take a look at what the software license for Intelligent Explore says (go to http://www.ieplugin.com/terms.html to read it all):

"You grant to us the right, exercisable by us until you uninstall the Software or this agreement is otherwise terminated, to provide to you the Service of downloading and causing to be displayed advertising material on your computer, through ‘pop-up’ or other display while you use your browser.  You acknowledge and agree that installation of the Software may automatically modify toolbars and other settings of your browser.  By installing the Software you agree to such modifications."

The company, IBC incorporated, is incorporated in Belize.  I really can't believe this license!

One end user found highly objectionable pop-up advertisements generated by this software bundled with Intelligent Explorer in the form of extreme pornography.

I have yet to break this.

Intelligent Explorer is a plug-in, which can create a new home page, as well as start up and endless loop of pop-ups. You can remove the view bar, but then starting up Internet Explorer will cause it to reappear.  I asked some friends to help, and no one could tell me what to do.

This is what I did:

I bought a copy of a program called XoftSpy and it removed the software. It took two scans and a reboot to do it. This is not an advertisement for this product.  They advertised it was free, which it was to run, but then I had to buy it to actually fix anything. It cost me $40 and I am sure that there are freeware products out there as well, but that is what ended the nightmare for me. Other spyware products I have seen out there include spybot, NoAdware, Spyware Eliminator, Pal Spyware Remover, and Spyware C.O.P.

    Let the buyer beware!

Computer Memory Tips

Computer Memory Tips in Upgrading Your Laptop

Notebook computers are increasing in the market, but upgrading and maintaining laptop computer memory is still not so easy.  It's important to choose a memory that is compatible with your notebook computer. When handling laptop memory, you need to be careful because it's a little delicate.

computer memory

Here are some tips to remember when Adding Laptop ram. It's important to shut down the Notebook and make sure it's unplug from power source.  If lights are still visible, double check for any live power sources
before continuing.  Unlike desktop personal computers, Laptop doesn't need to take apart in order to add Laptop ram. To some Notebooks, the memory slots can be accessed via a panel that's usually located at the bottom. You can use a small screwdriver to open the panel and see the existing memory. You can also do this to check the exact type of memory your Laptop uses because the front of the flash strips is visible when you open the memory panel.

The ram strips are locked in on the ends of the strips using small clips. Flip the clips if you want to remove the existing ram and gently pull the flash strips from their holding place. When you're adding new memory, push gently until your sure it's fully seated in the slots, then hold it in place by closing the clips.  Once you've added or replaced the computer memory, all you need to do is replace the access panel and screw it back into place. Turn on the Notebook to check if the computer memory can be read. Once it starts up, you should be informed about the memory and how much it thinks it has access to.  Should you encounter problems, just repeat the procedure and check that the computer memory is properly seated in the Notebook.

Personal Computer screen capture

Personal Computer screen capture is an important tool in saving our work or even capturing images from our PC monitor.

Do you know that you don't need to download external software? Yes its true because the tool is already there in your Microsoft Windows. Check out the tool here in my blog.

Yes. You can screen capture from any part of your computer monitor without downloading additional software.  This tutorial apply to personal computer with Vista operating system or Windows 7 OS.  Watch the video below.

Personal Computer Encryption

Encryption

Personal Computer encryption is an import issues we should not taken for granted.

Do you know that your important information stored in your PC is in great danger? Yes because hackers are everywhere on the internet? You are sure, every day your credit card account or even your Paypal account is safe from your computer? I will teach you how to prevent it in my blog.

What does encryption do for me?

Encryption and cryptographic software has been used in many different ways to make systems more secure.  This article discusses only a few ways that such software can make your system more secure, including:
1) Encrypting your email
2) Encrypting your files
To programs are mentioned that will help encrypt information. There are many more programs out there that will help, but these programs are good and a good place to start as any. They have the added benefit of both being free with source code available.

Will encryption stop people from accessing my information?

Encryption simply makes it harder for people to gain access to important information, like passwords or sensitive information in a file. The first thing you should know about encryption is that the algorithm that is used to encrypt can be simple or more complex and that affects how securely what you have encrypted is protected.  Encryption systems have been broken when the method of encryption is understood by hackers and is easy to break.

Why bother to encrypt my email?

It should be noted that email is far less secure than paper mail for two very good reasons:  first, electronic data can be accessed easily over an Internet and secondly, electronic data is really simple to copy. There is a very good chance that someone has snooped around in your email despite your best intentions to stop it.
How do I go about encrypting my email?
There are many programs out there that can help you encrypt your email.  A very popular one is PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) or its Gnu offshoot GPG.
PGP (http://www.pgpi.org/) self-describes itself this way: This “is a program that gives your electronic mail something that it otherwise doesn’t have: Privacy. It does this by encrypting your mail so that nobody but the intended person can read it. When encrypted, the message looks like a meaningless jumble of random characters. PGP has proven itself quite capable of resisting even the most sophisticated forms of analysis aimed at reading the encrypted text.”

Why bother to encrypt my files?

The answer to this boils down to what you store on your computer.  If you have financial data with important information like social security numbers, email addresses, account numbers and passwords, then you open yourself up to losing very valuable information.  Most corporate Internet security employees will attest to the widespread theft of very valuable information. As long as you are connected to the Internet you are vulnerable.

How do I go about encrypting my files?

AxCrypt File Encryption Software  (http://axcrypt.sourceforge.net/) Self-described as “Free Personal Privacy and Security for Windows 98/ME/NT/2K/XP with AES-128 File Encryption, Compression and transparent Decrypt and Open in the original application.”

Personal Computer Binary Number System

Personal Computer is digital in nature.

Do you that our PC uses different language?  Yes different in a way that we can't easily understand.  What I'm trying to tell you is they are digital.  PC only knows 1's and 0's.  If you know electronics that is equivalent to high voltage and low voltage.  I will discuss how to convert these language into human language.  I started from numbers.  I convert decimal number system which is readable to human language to binary numbers which a computer can only understand.

Here is a way to learn binary numbers.  You can try more reading on google just search for it.
sample 1

From the sample above we have binary number 1011 what I’m going to illustrate to you is how we can convert these binary numbers to decimal number system that is readable by human language.  All you have to do is to think these 1′s and 0′s as switches. When 1′s in personal computer it means on switch and if 0′s it means off switch.  If you have background in electronics or electricity 1′s is equal to high voltage and 0′s is equal to low voltage.  To convert these binary numbers all you have to do is count from right to left giving each 1′s and 0′s values from 1, 2, 4, 8 …..these numbers are just square of preceding numbers.
Since 1 is on we add it next is another 1 that is on therefore we add 2, next is 0 that is off therefore we don’t have to add 4, next is 1 that is on, then we add 8. The equivalent of binary number 1011 is 11 to decimal number system.

1 + 2 + 8 = 11

sample 2

Another example from the image above 0 is off therefore we don’t add 1, next is 1 that is on therefore we add 2, next is 0 that is off then don’t add 4, next is 1 that is on let us add 8, finally 1 that is on therefore we add 16.

2 + 8 + 16 = 26
11010 = 26

My examples are very basic.  These are the routines done inside our personal computer.   If you want to try using calculator you can use windows built in calculator. You can find it at start—-all programs—accessories—calculator.

When calculator pop up from menu select view then scientific. You will find button there DEC for decimal and bin for binary try to input any decimal number then tick bin button you will see its equivalent binary number system, then try to input any 1′s and 0′s for binary number and tick DEC button you will its equivalent decimal number system.

More about PC until my next blog.
